Programmes for operations teams

Six sheets from the same roll

Every service at CDS Business Optimization LLC is one clean page from a single lean kit. They fit together in order, yet each one stands alone when your team needs only that reset. Pick the sheet that matches your pain today.

How the programmes connect

Process overview

We start where every lean journey starts, on the mapping wall. Session one captures the true current state with the people doing the work. We then tune the rhythm with takt time, hold a focused kaizen event at the live constraint, capture the winning method as standard work, install a gentle pull loop so demand sets the pace, and keep the gains honest with recurring waste walks. The sequence is practical rather than rigid. Many teams begin with a single value stream mapping workshop and add the rest only when the wall demands it.

Each engagement begins with a short discovery call so we can set the right scope and invite the right people. After the first wall session you receive a clear current state drawing, a short list of wastes we saw, and a future state sketch you can share before we book the follow on work. Prices are scoped per programme and always quoted before the first marker reaches the paper.

01

Value Stream Mapping Workshops

We unroll the butcher paper, hand you a marker, and gather everyone who touches the work. Across one or two days the team draws the full process end to end, names each wait and each handoff with a hard number, and designs a slimmer future state they can defend to anyone. The value lives in the conversation on the wall, not in a report sent later.

Outcomes include a shared picture the whole team agrees on, a written list of the top wastes you can remove now, and a future state map ready for the next takt decision. Teams run this programme when the process has grown slower than anyone remembers and nobody holds the whole picture in one head.

02

Kaizen Event Facilitation

Kaizen means change for the better, and a kaizen event is that change compressed into a focused three to five day window. We bring a small empowered team to the live area, define one clear improvement aim, and test real changes against real work rather than theory on a slide.

At the close your team has implemented quick wins already visible on the floor, a safe test plan for the changes that need more time, and supervisors trained to run the next event without us. This programme fits a single stubborn bottleneck that is holding the whole stream hostage.

03

Takt Time Analysis

Takt time is the pace your customer sets, computed as available working time divided by customer demand. Most operations feel slow because they try to run far faster or far slower than that natural beat. We measure the true demand, compute the real takt, and compare it with your observed cycle time.

The analysis surfaces the exact stations that sprint, the ones that idle, and the crew size that balances the line. You leave with a target takt number, a rebalanced sequence, and a simple rhythm chart the floor can read at a glance. Run this before you buy capacity you may not need.

04

Standard Work Documentation

Standard work is the safest, easiest and most repeatable method we can capture today, written so that a new person can follow it and a trained person still checks themselves. We observe the proven safe motion, time each element, and turn it into short one page sheets that live where the work happens.

Standard work is never frozen; we agree that the sheet is the current best way and the team updates it whenever someone finds a better order. The real result is fewer errors, faster onboarding and a baseline you can improve again tomorrow instead of relearning every Monday.

05

Pull System Design

A push system makes every earlier step run whether the next one is ready yet, which buries work in queues and hides problems. We design a pull loop so the customer signal at the end reaches back and tells each earlier step exactly what to make next, nothing more.

The kit includes kanban squares, capped buffer limits and clear signals between stations. Inventory shrinks, waiting drops, and quality problems surface fast because nothing hides beneath a mountain of completed work. Install this when your floor runs rich on stock but slow on delivery.

06

Waste Walk Audits

Improvement fades without a habit of looking. A waste walk is a structured tour of the real gemba where we pause at each station and ask what is waiting, what is overproduced, what is reworked and where effort goes to waste. We name the eight wastes out loud with the local supervisor beside us.

Each walk closes with a short watch list of high impact fixes and clear owners. Recurring walks keep the improvements alive, train new eyes, and catch drift before it becomes next month problem. Bring us in once a quarter and keep the wall honest.
